On 5 October, a Russian-Chinese working meeting on Arctic research took place in Yakutsk. Representatives from the Yakut Scientific Centre of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Harbin Polytechnic University, and M.K. Ammosov North-Eastern Federal University participated in the meeting. The event was held as part of the VII Northern Forum on Sustainable Development.
Dr. Nadezhda Filippova, Doctor of Technical Sciences and Deputy General Director for Science at the Federal Research Centre Yakut Scientific Centre of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, presented a report titled "Creation of an Element of a Multifunctional Support Network Based on the Samoylovsky Island Research Centre".
The development of such a network is an important direction for organising research and ensuring operations in remote Arctic territories. Support points allow for the integration of scientific infrastructure, transport capabilities, and resources to solve practical problems in the North.
Also participating in the meeting were Academician Mikhail Lebedev of the Russian Academy of Sciences, General Director of the Federal Research Centre Yakut Scientific Centre of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences; Nyurgun Maksimov, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation at NEFU; and Professor Zhang Zifeng from the Institute of Environment, Harbin Polytechnic University.
The meeting's agenda included discussions on expanding the SakhaFlux observation network for cryolithozone ecosystems, the cold resistance of structural materials, and the implementation of a memorandum of cooperation.
